It is without a doubt that the teeth play a very significant role for each and everyone one of us. On top of helping chew and digest food, they contribute to the shape of the face, which also goes to show that they impact one’s physical appearance a lot. Having said that, it is important for the teeth to always look their best, for both health and aesthetic purposes.
However, due to accidents and certain inevitable factors such as genetics and the natural movement in the body, the perfect teeth don’t always come by…at least, not right away. This may come in the form of teeth gap, discoloration, and crooked teeth. Luckily, the expertise of cosmetic dentists can help solve such dental problems and give you that dazzling smile. One of the most popular procedures would be the dental veneers.
Have you ever wondered how that works? As cosmetic dental experts, we’re here to give you a closer look on dental veneers procedure.
A dental veneers procedure is designed to make small adjustments to your tooth’s surface that will aid in improving the following conditions: chipped tooth, discoloration, and gaps. In some instances, they are called “porcelain veneers” or “dental porcelain laminates”. These are meant to enhance the appearance of your teeth as they cover your teeth’s front surface.
So now you know what dental veneers are and you get the feeling that this treatment is the salvaition to improving your dental aesthetic condition. Do note though that not all As expert dental practitioners, we want to make sure that we can give you the best dental care experience as much as possible, and so there are certain procedures that we need to follow to accomplish this.
Ideally, there are at least 3 steps to getting dental veneers.
If this procedure sounds something like your alley, we will first evaluate your overall dental health and history to see if dental veneers would be the most suitable procedure for you.
If we see you fit to undergo a dental veneers procedure, then we’ll get on the treatment plan. Here at Shield Dental Care, your Burke Cosmetic Dentist value transparency between our dental practitioners and our patients. We will tell you upfront how we plan to improve your teeth’s appearance. We may take X-Rays as part of our assessment. We will also tell you the possible risks and side effects you may experience during and after the procedure.
After the consultation and you have decided to proceed with the treatment plan, we’ll start making your veneers model preparations. We may have to reshape the tooth surface to make sure that the veneers to be installed will perfectly fit. We want to make it look as natural as it can possibly be. This is a painless process, where you and your dentist can decide to numb the teeth area needed to be trimmed.
After making the necessary adjustments, your Burke Cosmetic Dentist will make a model of your tooth, which will be sent to their partner dental laboratory, as it is where your veneers are going to be made.
So now, you’re probably wondering – how long will it take for it to be made? Normally, it would take between 2-4 weeks to complete the creation of your veneers. For the time being, you may be recommended to wear temporary veneers, while waiting for the permanent one.
And here comes the final step of the procedure: bonding. As soon as your veneers arrive from the dental laboratory, it’s now time to bond them on your teeth surface. Your Burke Cosmetic Dentist will be using a composite resin that should effectively cement the veneers to the teeth. This won’t even take very long; it usually gets dry and will harden in just a few minutes! After which, you are good to go! You have a new set of pearly whites that you can proudly showcase to the world.
